Charity Wijetunga, J.D., Ph.D.
I am a clinical psychologist licensed to practice in New York and North Carolina. I received a BA in psychology from Boston University and a JD from Fordham University School of Law. I worked as an attorney in the New Jersey and New York state court systems prior to returning to Fordham to complete my PhD in clinical psychology, where I focused on the assessment and treatment of adults in the justice system. Currently, I am a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. At UNC, I am involved in psychotherapy training and supervision, providing individual therapy to UNC physicians and house staff through the Taking Care of Our Own Program, and conducting forensic assessments through the Forensic Psychiatry Program.
At Soffer & Associates, I provide individual therapy to adults experiencing a broad range of issues, from relationship problems to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Although I have the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life, I specialize in the treatment of attorneys and physicians. I understand the unique personal and professional challenges they face, and I am committed to helping them gain clarity, confidence, and balance as they navigate these challenges. |
